Cochran-Bleckley Recreation Department has formulated a plan for Spring Sports being delayed by the COVID-19 breakout. Please SHARE this to help us get the word out!
An adjusted sports calendar has been made. We will be adding Friday games to the schedule to insure that out athletes receive the same amount of field time that they normally would have. This new adjusted calendar will end only one day later than the current one. We will not be sending it out to the coaches until it becomes apparent that we will actually be able to start back with business as usual. Jerseys have been ordered, and the season WILL go on at some point!
Coaches and parents, the Spring Fundraiser will still go forward as planned. The only thing that will be changing is the date of when the helicopter will drop the golf balls. It will be on Opening Day. Coaches, PLEASE collect ticket stubs and money and get them into CBRD as soon as possible. Delaying Opening Day gate, SNOBIZ, and concessions income hurts us momentarily. We appreciate your understanding and assistance with this!
If you call the CBRD office, and get the answering machine, please understand what we are tasking our employees with currently. Not only do the fields have to be ready to go for Opening Day, but we also have the staff sanitizing all of the bathrooms, dugouts, and common surface areas with Lysol and Clorox.
The park is closed. The gym is closed. Closed means closed. Closed for practices, games, scrimmages, and "I just want to pitch a few balls to just my child" or "I need to get some jump shots up today."
We love this time of year and the chance it provides us to watch our young people fall in love with getting better at a sport through hard work. We will be ready to go when the time is appropriate.....and I can assure you the the words "Play Ball!" will be all the more special when they are finally shouted after this break.
Thank you, be safe, and God Bless each and every one of our kids and their families.
